Tahoe Honeymoon

Some pictures from our honeymoon in Tahoe! Thanks to a travelzoo deal we escaped from the crazy, exhausting wedding to a blissful retreat in beautiful Tahoe. Our time was spent exploring the hills, lakes, and breakfast joints.

Some highlights...

Bacon waffles...yes, bacon cooked into the waffle...amazing! I've since tried it at home, but can't beat the Red Hut Cafe's simple, yet tasty treat.
Bike ride along Lake Tahoe with a stop for ice cream.

A windy hike up to fallen leaf lake
Horseback riding with a view of Mt. Tallac

Climbing Mt. Tallac and singing our song at the summit!

Wine tasting at the hotel
Playing corn hole at the pizza place
Watching the smoke invade South Lake Tahoe from the nearby fires, while eating Thai
A picnic dinner with Rob, Meg and Cruz as they make their way back home to WA
Kayaking out to the Tea House and Jason walking on a rolling log in the lake
Brunch at the Log Cabin Caffe as we drive around the Lake

and of course...waking up next to my handsome husband every morning!

shower

This weekend Malia had her first shower over on the Peninsula with some family and friends. The house was in Seabeck on the water and the backyard was beautiful! They even have their own chickens that lay eggs everyday! so fun...

cupcakes from scratch with fresh eggs

Malia and bridesmaids

I can't believe Malia is tying the knot so soon! It was endearing to watch Peter via video talking about his love for maila and how excited he is to see her walk down the aisle...there is a lot of love between those two!

What a beautiful bride! truly!

invite

After my last day of school (today) I went and bought some fancy paper to use to make Malia's shower invites. The wedding colors are a kelly green and black...so I found invites with a green design on the top and bottom - not too girly or fancy. I also branched out and used two fonts I haven't really worked with before firenze and gigi. They are super simple, but I think they turned out pretty cute and the gigi font kind of looks like a neater version of Malia's signature. :)

and yes...I'm still in denial it was my last day of school.

wedding

I'm taking the day off of work tomorrow. My good friend and sister (in-law of sorts) is getting hitched on Saturday. It's been a busy and fun past few weeks. I can't believe the day is almost here. I remember talking about it during dinner dates months ago, before Christmas even. We laughed and talked about the wedding as if it was ages away. Time moves so quickly. Not too quickly...I don't think they would want the wedding to be further off, but if definitely sneaks up on you. Today, I met up with the girls at anthro, Jennie found an outfit for the rehearsal, stopped to look at some lingerie, picked up the dress along with mine and Kendra's from the seamstress, then went to dinner (girls night - sisters, mom, bridesmaids, mother-in-laws, grandma-in-law, sister-in-law) at our favorite oaxacan restaurant. It is such a whirlwind of activity. I hope Jennie can enjoy the moments throughout the weekend. I hope the stress of the details is overshadowed by the excitement and joy of the marraige to come.

Aaah, weddings...I think I'll just elope.

ocean

I spent the past few days along the oregon coast with friends...one who is getting married a week from today! It was fun to walk along the beach, make meals together, eat candy and watch movies, talk about life...most of which was centered around marriage and kids (I was the only one single). I didn't have much to contribute to the conversations regarding marraige and kids, but I enjoyed listening in and laughing about the funny and awkward moments. I'm so thankful to be where I am in life - independent and free to make spontaneous changes. Now I just want to make sure I am living that way and take advantage of the opportunities. Someday I won't have the same freedoms, not that it will be a bad thing, it will just be good in a different way.

life - the sweetest thing

Yesterday was such an amazing day. My favorite days - I wake up, clean a little, drink a homemade latte, wear sweats, get a massage, make a delicious salad, a friend visits, get dressed up in a fancy dress, celebrate a new marriage, enjoy old and missed friends, drink a cup of coffee, go to the Nectar, meet new friends and dance the night away. Life doesn't get any sweeter than this!

maybe I caught the bouqeut...yikes!
